How to Make Any Perfume Last All Day (Backed by Science)

Nothing is more frustrating than spraying a fragrance you love, only to have it vanish within an hour. The good news: longevity is mostly about application technique and concentration — both of which you can control.

First, concentration matters most. An Eau de Toilette (5–15% oil) simply can't last as long as an Extrait de Parfum (20–40% oil). If longevity is your priority, start with a higher concentration — every scent in our Sélectif Collection is a full Extrait de Parfum built to last 8–12 hours.

Then, technique:

  1. Moisturize first. Fragrance clings to hydrated skin. Apply unscented lotion before spraying. Unscented lotion on Amazon →
  2. Apply to pulse points. Wrists, neck, inner elbows — body heat diffuses the scent.
  3. Never rub. Rubbing breaks down the top notes and shortens wear.
  4. Layer with matching products where possible.
  5. Spray onto clothing and hair (which hold scent longer than skin) — carefully.
  6. Store properly. Heat and light degrade perfume. Keep bottles in a cool, dark place — not your steamy bathroom. Perfume storage box on Amazon →

Try these with a long-lasting Extrait like Ambre Rouge or Cherry Gourmet and you'll notice the difference immediately.

A magnetic, seductive fragrance that combines tenderness with a whirlwind of emotions.
